iCalendar Sync


Subscribe to iCal feed

It is important to find your device from the headings below and follow the steps to synchronize your device to the iCal feed.
*Please follow the how to subscribe instructions, this will allow you to receive regular iCal event updates"

Windows

Microsoft Outlook ( These instructions allow you to download the calendar events. They do not sync your device to the iCal feed. )

  1. Open Outlook online by clicking on https://outlook.office.com/
  2. Download the iCal file to your computer by clicking on: https://www.act.gov.au/living-in-the-act/public-holidays-school-terms-and-daylight-savings/public-holiday-ical-feed.
  3. The file will automatically download to your downloads folder.
  4. Open your online Outlook calendar.
  5. Click Add calendar.
  6. From the Add calendar menu, click Upload from file.
  7. Browse your computer for the iCal file. Select it and click Open.
  8. From the Select calendar menu, select the calendar you want to add the events to.
  9. Click Import. You will get a message once the import has been completed. This may take a few minutes.
  10. Close the Add calendar window.

The events will be added to your online and desktop Outlook calendars.

Microsoft Outlook 365

  1. Open Outlook in the web browser: https://outlook.office.com/calendar
  2. Click Add calendar
  3. Click Subscribe from web
  4. Copy and paste the URL into the text field: https://www.education.act.gov.au/public-school-life/term_dates_and_public_holidays/ical-feed
  5. Name the calendar: Term dates and public holidays
  6. Add to – select from the drop-down where you would like your calendar added
  7. Click Import
  8. You will receive a message that the calendar has been successfully added. You can close the screen.

If the "ACT-School-Term-Dates" doesn’t appear, restart your Outlook application.

Apple Mac

  1. Open Calendar
  2. Go to File
  3. Select New Calendar Subscription.
  4. Copy and Paste the URL into the text field

  5. Click Subscribe.
  6. Name the Calendar
  7. Select a color to help you identify the Calendar.
  8. Select iCloud or On My Mac from the Location menu
  9. Click OK.
  10. The Calendar has been added and will appear under Other Calendars

Apple IPhone and IPad

1.Open Settings on the iDevice
2.Select Calendar
3.Go to Accounts selection.
4.Click Add Account
5.Select Other
6.Select Add Subscribed Calendar
7.Subscription - In the field titled Server input the URL

8.Click Next
9.Save
10.The Calendar has been added and will appear under Other or Subscribed Calendars

Android Devices

  1. Open http://www.google.com/calendar on PC or Laptop
  2. Log into your personal Google account
  3. Select Add a friend’s calendar (You can find this on left hand side of the page)
  4. Go to the drop down arrow or cross
  5. Select From URL
  6. Copy and Paste the URL
    http://www.charlesweston.act.edu.au/ical_feed
  7. Select Add Calendar
  8. The Calendar has been added and will appear under Other Calendars

Configure you Android device to sync to your Google calendar

  1. Open the Google Calendar app on your device (If you don't have the Google Calendar app you will need to download it from the Google play store)
  2. Go to the left drop-down menu
  3. Find the new imported calendar and check the box is ticked beside the calendar (if the box is not ticked you won't see the events in your calendar)
  4. Go to Settings
  5. Select the Calendar
  6. Select Sync Now
  7. You may need to select the Google account calendar, then under Other calendars check the subscribed calendars the Android device is to sync with (by default, the Other calendars may not be checked).

How to rename the Calendar in your personal Google account

  1. Open http://www.google.com/calendar on PC or Laptop
  2. Roll the cursor over the calendar you want to rename
  3. Select from drop down dots
  4. Select Calendar Settings
  5. Rename the Calendar in name text field (Once the name has been change a black box will open from bottom of the screen  "Setting Saved"
  6. Exit Settings
  7. Check under "Other Calendars" to see the renamed Calendar
