Our World School

Principal's Message

Welcome to Charles Weston School Coombs. Whether you are an existing family or looking to enrol I extend a warm welcome. I invite you to visit our school in person to experience the connected and vibrant community in which we learn. We regularly run tours to meet with families and students who are looking to enrol.

We are a school community rich in diversity. With over 54 different languages spoken by our students we value and promote multilingualism. We acknowledge that we are growing our school community on Ngunnawal land and work with our children and families to respect the contributions of the First Nations people who we learn from, about and with at CWSC. We also recognise and welcome the opportunities for learning that come through the vast array of cultures that make up our emerging community.

I began my teaching career in Melbourne in 1998 before moving to Canberra in 2003. Since then, I have worked as both a teacher and a school leader with the ACT Education Directorate, including time at Higgins, Florey and Kingsford Smith School, as well as serving as the EAL/D Executive Officer supporting programs across the system.

My leadership roles at Duffy, Mawson and Forrest Primary Schools have strengthened my passion for building inclusive, culturally rich learning environments. At Mawson, I was proud to help introduce a bilingual Mandarin program, reflecting my strong belief in the value of bilingualism and the importance of maintaining home languages. Most recently, I had the privilege of serving as Acting Principal at Forrest Primary School.

I am now delighted to lead this inclusive and culturally diverse IB World School. This role brings together the things I value most in education—equity, diversity, strong learning, and a sense of belonging for every student.
