Defence School Mentor

Defence School Mentor

Charles Weston recognises the unique challenges that Defence children experience and has the support of a Defence School Mentor (DSM). The role aims to ensure that Defence families not only transition smoothly into the greater school community, but they are able to share their unique skill set in a positive and collaborative way.

Ruth Gill, the Defence School mentor, is available two afternoons a week to support children who have a parent in the Defence Force. She is a social worker with experience in supporting children and families. She is also a Defence spouse with school aged children.

Ruth will provide direct support to Defence children, ensuring that their welcoming, transitioning and farewelling experiences are positive and well supported within the school community. She will also provide direct support to the Defence children who are experiencing parental separation. She is available to provide a range of information and programs.

If you are a Defence family, at the school, or are considering enrolling, please do not hesitate to contact the Front Office for further details.
